Using the Lifeline

For personal use, charging is fine. However, for fleet use, how do you make sure that each of maybe 22-24 units is charged fully at the beginning of each week?  There doesn’t seem to be a bulk charging option.

We will have a bulk charger available to charge multiple units at the same time. The Lifeline has a whopping big 1850 mAh lithium ion battery (that's big!). The spec for 1 hour of chat time and 24 hour data transmission is based on 70% battery. If the unit is carried by divers but not used for voice communications (ie. in a guest BCD pocket and left there), it will take 2 - 3 months for the battery to degrade to 70% charge (even longer on a fairly new unit).  It's easy to tell what the battery charge level is as there is a battery indicator light on each unit.

Is the unit waterproof and submersible?

The Lifeline is depth rated to 425 feet 130 meters with the cap closed and waterproof to IP67 standards for surface use with the cap open.

Our radio on the boat has only a two-digit channel indication without any displays. Does this mean that we need to change the radio? If the answer is yes, then which model should we buy to be compatible with the Nautilus Lifeline?

The Lifeline will work very well as a marine VHF radio and GPS. DSC or group calling is even better of course. If you have an older marine radio we can supply a package including either a fixed marine DSC VHF radio ie. dashmount for $150 or a very nifty handheld portable VHF GPS radio including an arrow to point to the diver in trouble for $275. DSC radios have been around for the last 8 years now and ALL radios sold since Feb 2009 are DSC.

Pricing & Sales Policy

Is there dealer pricing available?

Yes, and we also offer a commercial lease program.

Is it true that I can replace the unit free of charge?

We have a 'no questions asked' return policy for the 1 year warranty period EXCEPT for flooded units. If a unit floods because of a defect in material or workmanship we will cover it. If a unit floods because of a dirty o-ring or misuse, we will replace it for a reasonable fee under our lifetime service plan.

Distress Button

Function varies according to country and certification. Depress button for digital selective calling (DSC) transmission of GPS coordinates. We prefer to call this the diver position indicating light. Duel strobes will flash in DISTRESS MODE which is especially usueful after sunset.

This is a fully functional marine VHF radio. Use both buttons together to adjust volume or squelch, select GPS polling or turn radio off. Unit will timeout and turn off automatically after sleeping > 20 minutes.
